People talk about how the media influences public opinion. Here’s an example of how it’s done.

“Biden gets big victory in SC” was the actual or similar headline on the front page of many newspapers in the state and across the country.

Really? Somehow, at least one half-page story I saw never mentions the actual number of votes President Biden received.

Out of roughly 3,266,000 registered voters, Biden got 126,321. That is hardly a big victory.

Let’s rewrite this just a little: “Trump has poor showing in SC.”

With 3,266,000 registered voters, Trump, the leading Republican candidate, received only 126,321 votes. While that was enough for the win, it shows the potential weakness of the former President’s campaign.

The first paragraph is a victory; the second is a failure. The only change is the subject of the story.
