01) Car thief

Anthony Alton Feagin

A Summerville resident's call for service involving a stolen truck on Feb. 9 led to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) locating and capturing a person of interest who was ultimately charged with six counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, three counts of unlawful possession of a handgun by a person convicted of a violent crime, two drug charges, among other allegations.

The suspect was identified as Anthony Alton Feagin, 58, of Summerville.

A cranking noise reportedly prompted the crime victim to report that their Dodge Ram pickup had been snatched from the Hickory Ridge Way property. The truck, it was noted, was equipped with a tracking device that allowed responding police to locate the pilfered vehicle with the assistance of an Azalea Motors employee.

The truck was found sitting in a lot of Cheyenne Road, as stated in a corresponding police affidavit. The land owner apprised county officers of the name and description of the alleged thief, who was seen hiding under a mobile home. A short foot pursuit ensued, with the accused offender jumping over a nearby fence and fleeing in an unknown direction.

Detectives executed multiple search warrants and arrested Feagin on Feb. 16. The individual in question was also connected to the theft of a Kubota tractor from Berkeley County.

In addition to recovering the stolen truck and tractor, the DCSO also located six more vehicles taken by illegitimate means by the suspect, police say. Authorities also found 10 chopped vehicles, five firearms, 10 grams of meth, 13 hydrocodone pills and two grams of fentanyl.

Detectives are continuing to investigate, as more arrests are expected to be processed.
