Officers with the Summerville Police Department responded to 220 Holiday Drive (Country Inn & Suites) Tuesday, Oct. 3, in reference to an unresponsive female in a hotel room.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed Marissa Decker, 46, of Pennsylvania, lying on the floor. Officers noticed a spent shell casing on the floor and the Berkeley County EMS arrived and pronounced Decker dead at the scene.

During the investigation, a person of interest was identified and located deceased Sunday, Oct. 1, in North Charleston from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This case is being investigated as a homicide. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office is assisting in this investigation.
