GreenPal, an app that connects homeowners with local, vetted lawn care professionals, has officially launched in Summerville.
Launched in 2015, Nashville-based GreenPal allows homeowners to find local, pre-screened lawn professionals. Homeowners can list their lawns with their service date and lawn care needs. Vetted lawn care pros can then bid on their properties based on Google Street, aerial images and any other lawn details the homeowner provides. Homeowners can select who to work with based on the vendor’s ratings, reviews and price.
Once a vendor has completed the service, the lawn care pro will send a time-stamped photo of the completed work. Homeowners can then pay via the app and set up more appointments.
“After successfully launching in 250 other markets, we are excited to help homeowners in Summerville find reliable, safe and local lawn care,” said co-founder Gene Caballero. “GreenPal’s expansion into Summerville is aimed at meeting the growing demand for the service in the area.”
Caballero emphasized the benefits of empowering local landscaping vendors through GreenPal’s platform and said this is not an instance of a national company taking over local businesses. Instead, Caballero said the app meets consumer expectations in the modern age, where instant gratification is the norm.
“Think of it as a shift toward faster delivery expectations,” Caballero said. “It’s the lawn care version of DoorDash, Uber or Amazon.”
GreenPal launched in Charleston in 2023, and Caballero said after that, it soon became evident that Summerville was the area for the app.
“What typically happens when we launch in a major city is the user base kind of creeps out from the metro area,” he said. “We saw a lot of uptick in homeowners in the Summerville area asking for our service. That’s when we knew we needed to launch in this market officially, and that’s why we’re here.”
Caballero said GreenPal empowers local Summerville landscaping vendors by handling their demand creation, routing, payment processing and scheduling.
“GreenPal allows homeowners to find local lawn care businesses in the area at a great price and aligns with the homeowners’ schedule. We’re not a national company,” Caballero said. “People expect a service like ours; we’re no longer calling cabs. We’re getting online, downloading an app and hitting a button. “We expect everything to come to us pretty much instantly. GreenPal falls into the landscape of where the consumer mindset has shifted.”
